Independent MP Teona Akubardia and Chairperson of the Republican Party Khatuna Samnidze responded to the Kvareli incident, where Levan Berdzenishvili was not allowed to hold a lecture, addressed the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Three MPs - me, Khatuna Samnidze and Ana Buchukuri - asked the newly created Investigative Service, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, whether the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had started an investigation into this fact, and whether the Investigative Service had started an investigation, since Levan Berdzenishvili’s constitutionally guaranteed right to movement was restricted.

This appears to be a trend since July 5th, when the MIA allowed violent, pro-Russian extremist groups to operate freely in violation of our constitution, and the police who were on the scene at the time, didn"t do anything to protect the constitutional rights of people“, - said Teona Akubardia.

“What we saw is a proof that marginal pro-Russian groups do not act independently and they have a “green light” from the Government, especially if we recall the speech of Irakli Kobakhidze in the Parliament, who spoke about Levan Berdzenishvili as a person who expressed thoughts against traditions”, - added Khatuna Samnidze.
