Amid talk of an emerging deal following a stalemate that already broke a 100-year-old House record, California Republican Kevin McCarthy failed to clinch the speakership Thursday evening after an 11th round of voting, writes The Washington Post.
The votes have largely held steady over three days of ballots, with McCarthy garnering 200 votes on the 11th ballot.
Florida’s Byron Donalds received 12 votes, Kevin Hern of Oklahoma got seven, former president Donald Trump got a lone vote from Florida’s Matt Gaetz, and Victoria Spartz of Indiana again voted “present”.
