Shalva Papuashvili meets with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement

The Speaker of the Parliament met with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement.

In addition to noting that Georgia remains a devoted partner of the European Union, Shalva Papuashvili stressed the significance of the Olivér Várhelyi’s visit.

The Speaker went into great length regarding Georgia’s progress in implementing EU proposals.

Giving Georgia a European perspective and outlining precise proposals, according to Olivér Várhelyi, are significant steps in the right direction. He asserts that Georgia has a tremendous deal of potential to work closely with the European Union over the long term in a variety of fields, including energy security.

The European Commissioner stated that he is willing to continue to assist Georgia in its efforts to become a member of the EU and that, following the execution of the recommendations, he would actively engage with the member states to discuss Georgia"s application for candidate status.

Members of parliamentary factions, political groups, and independent MPs attended the meeting.
