Georgia is hosting the NATO assessment team

Georgia is hosting the NATO assessment team. The purpose of the visit is to assess the progress in the implementation of the 14th Annual National Programme [ANP]. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the NATO delegation met the representatives of the state agencies involved in the implementation of the ANP.

The ANP is one of the main mechanisms of Georgia’s integration into NATO, through which the country presents the progress of its reforms to the Alliance. The document covers political and economic issues, including the protection of human rights, strengthening of oversight by the legislature, ongoing reforms in the field of justice and courts, and the country’s foreign policy priorities.

The ANP outlines issues related to enhancement of the country’s defence capabilities and the existing security environment, as well as definite opportunities for strengthening cooperation with NATO. Its successful implementation is one of the important steps on Georgia’s path towards NATO integration.
