Russian-controlled occupation forces have illegally arrested a Georgian citizen in the country’s occupied Abkhazia.
According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the de facto authorities in the region had claimed alleged possession of drugs by the individual, who was detained in Gali district while on his way to Zugdidi municipality on the government-controlled territory.
“We activated the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the occupation line, and informed the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions about the incident.
All existing mechanisms had been activated to ensure release of illegally detained citizens in occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions”, - reads the statement of the SSSG.
