The Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 24 people for drug crime in Tbilisi and regions, including 18 drug dealers.

“As a result of operational search measures and investigative activities, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Central Criminal Police Department’s Main Division for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking, Tbilisi Police Department, Patrol Police Department, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, Shida Kartli Police Department and Ajara Police Department, arrested 24 people for drug crime.

18 drug dealers have been arrested in Tbilisi and the regions, including in the Fonichala settlement, on charges of illegal sale of drugs and preparation for illegal sales: A.G., born in 1975, F.A., born in 1990, A., born in 1999. Crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

On the basis of the judge’s ruling, the law enforcement officers made control purchases of drugs from persons arrested on the charge of illegal possession of drugs several times and made secret audio-video recording of said purchases. The police seized as evidence the narcotics illegally sold by the defendants for drug sales. Also, the amount obtained as a result of the illegal sale of drugs was recovered.

In addition, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted simultaneously in Tbilisi and Batumi, the employees of the main division of the Central Criminal Police Department for the fight against illegal drug trafficking arrested 3 persons.

Two citizens of the Russian Federation born in 1986 - I.L. and I.P. The law enforcement officers arrested them on the charge of illegal purchase and storage of a large amount of narcotic drugs.

During the search of the car and apartment of the arrested, the police seized more than half a kilo of cocaine as evidence.

In addition, 3 persons were arrested for the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances: EB born in 1976, convicted of various serious crimes in the past, A.S. born in 1995. and R. born in 1970 N.

The law enforcers, within the framework of the complex policing measures conducted in Tbilisi and the regions, also prevented the facts of illegal distribution of drugs through the Internet and arrested 3 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As a result of the conducted covert operative-investigative measures, it was determined that the persons accused of drug trafficking were involved in the scheme of selling drugs on the Internet.

During the search of their personal and residential apartments, up to 2 kilograms of narcotic drug “cocaine” and more than half a kilogram of psychotropic drug “ketamine” were seized. For the purpose of further sale, they placed drugs in different places and photographed the location of said locations, and then provided information about the location of hiding places to the customers.

Law enforcement officers arrested a person in Batumi, whose narcotic drug “Buprenorphine” containing 490 pills “Subutex” was taken as evidence from the car he was driving. The police arrested 2 more persons, one of whom has been convicted of various serious crimes in the past, for the illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

As a result of operational and investigative measures conducted throughout the country, large and especially large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances prepared for sale were seized as evidence from the locations indicated by the defendants, as well as during the search of the personal, car and residential houses of the detainees: “Heroin”, “Cocaine”, “Alpha PVP”, “Ketamine”, and “Subutex”.

Investigating the facts of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities, and the preparation of drugs, as well as illegal purchase and storage of psychotropic substances in accordance with 260, 19-260, 273, 18- of the Criminal Code of Georgia is being conducted under Articles 260 and 261”, - said the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department - Teimuraz Kupatadze at a special briefing.
