Development of our society is measured by the valued sacrifice by veterans. Our authorities within the extent possible do and will continue doing their best to value your contribution much greater. It was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia in his keynote speech delivered at the event dedicated to Veterans Day.
“Let me greet you all, dear veterans, distinguished guests, dear ambassadors! I wish to congratulate you all on the Veterans Day and express gratitude to every veteran on behalf of our government for your dignified and loyal service, for the protection of our homeland and out territories, for everything you did for our country not only for the protection of our territorial integrity, but also for securing the peace around the world.
I wish to hereby remind everyone that since regaining our independence, our country has been in a great number of difficulties – wars in Abkhazia, Samachablo and later in 2008. Our engagement has been noted in international missions in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Central African Republic. We lost hundreds of dignified patriots as a lot of our fellow citizens have fallen in these wars. We once again bow down to the bright memory of our heroes. It is our duty to value their contribution. They sacrificed the most precious virtue of a human being – one’s own life! When a person lets it go by one’s will, it is heroism, of course!”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
