Our heroic soldiers - and now veterans - have been safeguarding the name of our country and representing our nation in a dignified manner in the missions. It was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia in his keynote speech delivered at the event dedicated to Veterans Day.
“I wish to remind everyone that our heroic soldiers - and now veterans - have been safeguarding the name of our country and representing our nation in a dignified manner in the missions I just listed. At one point in time in Afghanistan we were a non-NATO country with the highest per capita contribution in terms of our servicemen on the ground. We lost over 30 heroic soldiers there and hundreds got wounded. They are our invincible, unbeatable defenders and veterans. I once again wish to thank them all. We should be thanking you routinely.
Of course, the development of our society is measured by the valued veterans and appreciated sacrifice made by them. Our authorities do and will continue doing their best within the extent possible to make sure that your contribution is valued much higher. We should raise the future generations on the examples and role models demonstrated by you. I once again wish to say that the main duty of ours and of our government is to value you. I pledge that we will be doing much more to reward you and your contribution. Once again, on behalf of the Government of Georgia, I express our gratitude and wish you good health and success”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
