Tbilisi hosts the meetings of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Working Group on Health.

Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, opened the event.

As Minister said, CAREC Healthcare Strategy and regional framework document discussed at this meeting will be important tools for participating countries to eliminate gaps existing in healthcare system, defining priority projects and receiving technical assistance.

Zurab Azarashvili and Deputy Minister, Tamar Gabunia met with Country Director of Georgia Resident Mission at Asian Development Bank (ADB), Shane Rosenthal and Director of Social Sector Division, Rie Hiraoka on the sidelines of the event. The participants of the meeting reflected on aspects of health protection and strengthening of labour skills. The prospects of future cooperation were discussed.

Organized by CAREC, discussion regarding experience gained during management of COVID-19 was held. One of the speaker was First Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia.

The event brought together about 70 representatives of 10 CAREC member countries.
