The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational search measures and investigative activities, arrested 5 people in Tbilisi, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli and Adjara at different times, seized illegal firearms and ammunition as evidence.
Employees of Isani-Samgori Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department detained previously convicted G.Ch. (DoB 1988) on charges of illegal purchase and possession of firearms. The police, during the search of the house of the detainee, seized an automatic firearm and a magazine as evidence.
Employees of the Marneuli District Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department arrested a foreign citizen - M.G. (DoB 1980) on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. Law enforcers stopped M.G. while driving. As a result of search, the police seized a Makarov firearm, a magazine e and 11 cartridges as evidence.
Previously convicted S.A., (DoB 1999) was arrested on the charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition. As a result of his personal search, the employees of Gardabani district division seized a hand-made pistol as evidence.
The employees of Khashuri District Division of Shida Kartli Police Department, detained Z.G. (DoB 1974) who is accused of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, as well as narcotics. Law enforcement officers in Khashuri municipality, as a result of the search in the house of the accused person and the warehouses, seized as evidence an automatic firearm - AK 74 model, 100 cartridges, 3 magazines, narcotic Suboxin, as well as marijuana as evidence.
The employees of Khelvachauri District Division of Adjara Police Department exposed the fact of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and illegal importation of firearms into Georgia. The police detained A.B (DoB 1989) in Khelvachauri for the mentioned crime. Law enforcers, as a result of searching the minibus driven by the accused person, seized revolvers, 12 cartridges and details of firearms as evidence.
The investigation is being conducted under articles 236, 214, 260 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
