Lelo initiates creation of parliamentary fact-finding commission to examine alleged connections between Special Services of Georgia and Russia

Lelo initiates creation of parliamentary fact-finding commission to examine alleged connections between Special Services of Georgia and Russia. Such a statement made today one of the members of the party, MP Salome Samadashvili.

“TV Pirveli aired information obtained as a result of a journalistic investigation, about the systematic cooperation of current and former officials of the Security Service of Georgia, including the Minister of Internal Affairs, with representatives of the Russian security services.

According to the journalistic investigation, the goals of the mentioned cooperation are likely to be against the legislation and state interests of Georgia, as well as the principles of international law.

In particular, several alleged crimes committed by officials have been identified, such as concluding an anti-constitutional agreement or conducting negotiations, violating the foreign security of Georgia, entering the foreign intelligence service, violating self-defense capability, disclosure of state secrets, espionage, assistance to a foreign country in hostile activities, etc.

We believe that the immediate investigation of the above facts is an urgent necessity for ensuring the security of the state. Therefore, Lelo has an initiative to set up a parliamentary fact-finding commission, the task of which will be to examine the facts disclosed in the journalistic investigation”, - said Salome Samadashvili.
