De facto Tskhinvali authorities partially lift movement restrictions over the occupation line - SSSG

According to the information received on the hotline operated by the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, the illegal restrictions imposed on movement in the direction of occupied Tskhinvali along the occupation line will be partially eased. Such a statement released the State Security Service of Georgia.

“Residents of the occupied Akhalgori and Java municipalities will be given the opportunity to cross the occupation line using the existing so-called checkpoints from the 20th of every month to the last day of the month. The mentioned mode of movement will be valid until December 31, 2022.

The removal of illegal restrictions on free movement was one of the main topics of the incident prevention and response mechanism meetings. The issue was constantly discussed by the central government at the meetings of Geneva International Discussions”.

Illegal restrictions imposed on free movement in the occupied territories and along the occupation line significantly complicate the life of the local population and damage the security environment. The occupying force is fully responsible for this”, - reads the statement.
