The works for the renovation of Metekhi Bridge have rounded off the first stage of the project, with traffic restored in the affected section of the bridge, Tbilisi City Hall announced. Mayor of the capital, who inspected the site, said the project would be completed in September.
“We have started the rehabilitation works of Metekhi Bridge. One part of the bridge was closed, where rehabilitation works were taking place. Today we are starting the renovation works of the second part of the bridge. The part that was closed will be opened for vehicles, traffic movement will be possible. We are moving to another part, where we start carrying out similar works.
As part of the project, the asphalt-concrete surface will be paved, the sidewalk will be renewed and paved with natural stone tiles. In addition, the facades and arches will be reinforced, and the cast-iron railings on the bridge will be renewed without changing their appearance”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
