Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia

Within the framework of the NATO Madrid Summit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, has met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Tania Fajon.

The sides discussed a broad spectrum of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda. Special attention was paid to the process of Georgia’s integration with the European Union. They welcomed the European Council’s decision on granting a European perspective to Georgia and Georgia’s steps, as well as reforms implemented on the path of European integration.

The Slovenian Foreign Minister reiterated Slovenia’s support for Georgia’s European future. The Ministers welcomed the decisions made at the NATO Summit, including on the alliance’s support for Georgia. Special accent was placed on Georgia’s reforms on the path to NATO integration, on Georgia’s important role in international peacekeeping missions and on ensuring international security, in general.

Speaking on regional security issues, Tania Fajon reaffirmed his strong support for Georgia"s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

During the meeting, the sides positively assessed the dynamics of relations between the two countries and highlighted the importance of using the existing potential to the full.
