Patriarcal Choir of Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral sang Georgian chants at the Sistine Chapel in Vatican

The Patriarcal Choir of Tbilisi Holy Trinity (Sameba) Cathedral sang Georgian chants at the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. The President and Culture Minister of Georgia attended the concert.

“Tonight, we saw a historical event for Georgian culture, for our Georgian traditions.

Hearing the Georgian chants within the walls of the Sistine Chapel was an emotional moment that will stay in our history books.

Thank you to the Trinity Cathedral Choir”, - tweeted Salome Zourabichvili.

The concert was held under an agreement signed between the President and the Pope during her official visit to the Holy See in 2021.

On June 29, the Georgian choir will sing Patriarch Ilia II’s Ave Maria in St. Peter’s Basilica, the Liturgical Solemnity of St. Peter and Paul, in the presence of Pope Francis and a visiting Delegation of the Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
