As a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have recently seized illegal firearms as well as ammunition in Tbilisi, Shida Kartli and Imereti regions and detained 4 people.

The officers of Isani-Samgori Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department detained previously convicted L.B. (DoB 1993), for illegal purchase and storage of firearms.

The law enforcers seized a pistol, a magazine and 7 cartridges as evidence as a result of a search held in detainee’s apartment based on a judge’s decision.

The officers of Shida Kartli Police Department, as a result of joint investigative activities held along with Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, arrested two persons - R.F. (DoB 1971) and K.G. (DoB 1980) for illegal purchase, possession and group sale of firearms based on a judge"s ruling.

The investigation established that the defendants purchased 9 pistols at different times, some of which were sold in group illegally and part of them were illegally kept.

The officers of Khashuri Police Division of Shida Kartli Police Department arrested G.N. (DoB 1994) on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.

As a result of the search carried out in detainee’s house in Khashuri, the law enforcers seized a rifle, the so-called “Cut gun” and 8 cartridges as evidence.

The committed crimes envision from 3 to 11 years of imprisonment.

The facts of illegal purchase, storage and sale of firearms and ammunition committed in group are being investigated under the III, V and VI parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
