Rehabilitation of Melikishvili Street in Tbilisi has started on June 17. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and his deputy Andria Basilaia inspected the ongoing works planned to be completed in November 2022.
As part of the works, the underground utility services will be completely replaced. The drainage system network, water, and sewage systems, and gas pipes will be replaced. Power lines will be installed underground. Lighting poles with LED lights will be installed. Sidewalks, new bus stop areas, bus lanes, and bicycle lanes will be arranged. Underground waste collection bins will be installed and the infrastructure on the street will be maximally adapted for people with disabilities.
The street is already closed. During the project implementation period, Varaziskhevi and Kostava streets will become two-way.
Funded from the Tbilisi city budget, the project is worth of GEL 6,388,000.
