Government is becoming a shareholder of the group that owns the Borjomi factory - Irakli Garibashvili

The Georgian government is becoming a shareholder of the group that owns the Borjomi factory. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“I would like to inform you that we have successfully completed negotiations with the shareholders of “Borjomi” and our state, the Government of Georgia will become a shareholder of the group that owns the Borjomi factory.

This is free of charge deal. We will get the shares free of charge and after that our state will become the co-owner of the Borjomi factory, our national wealth, and all the problems that Borjomi and its employees had in operating, managing and functioning will be removed.

We have agreed on this issue with our international partners, we have also consulted with regulators in the UK and I would like to emphasize that this deal was concluded in full compliance with the norms of international law.

I want to thank the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Justice, who have worked actively and fruitfully to successfully complete this transaction. Congratulations to each employee of “Borjomi”. I know a few dozen employees there believe the local company treated them unfairly. 50 employees were fired. I also told you about it last week. Once the state becomes the co-owner of this enterprise, of course, we will be more actively involved and solve all the problems”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
