Playing USSR anthem in Parliament is violation of country’s legislation - Salome Zourabichvili

Playing the anthem of the Soviet Union in the parliament is the violation of the country’s legislation. Such a statement issued the Office of the President.

“The use of the anthem in the sitting room of the Parliament is unacceptable and discredits the state institution.

I urge all MPs to respect the law adopted by the Parliament - the Charter of Freedom, the incident occurred during the Speaker"s speech in the legislative body yesterday contradicts this law”, - reads the statement of Salome Zourabichvili.

On February 18, Irma Nadirashvili and Elene Khoshtaria, members of the European Georgia opposition party, played the anthem of the Soviet Union in the Parliament of Georgia during Archil Talakvadze’s annual report.
