There is an abnormally high rate of emergency treatment in Georgia - Giorgi Gakharia

The Prime Minister of Georgia held a meeting with representatives of medical sphere.

The meeting was attended by about 100 heads of clinics across Georgia and the head of government highlighted the achievements and challenges of the universal health care programme.

As Giorgi Gakharia said, there is an abnormally high rate of emergency treatment in Georgia.

“The success of universal health care is important and pragmatic steps must be taken to maintain it. Ultimately, all this should be aimed at ensuring the health of the Georgian citizen. There is an abnormally – more than 85% - high rate of emergency treatment in Georgia. Citizens today pay so much for their health care that they don"t feel that universal health care is about them”, - said Giorgi Gakharia.

Giorgi Gakharia reaffirmed the government"s readiness to take steps to maintain the sustainability of the universal health care programme and stressed the need for the medical community to cooperate in the process.
