US congressmen send letter to Giorgi Gakharia and strongly criticize him

Georgians want a government of, for and by the people, want a government that is more aligned with the West and they aspire to join NATO and the European Union. That is why many have taken to the streets to peacefully express their concerns, only to be met by violent thugs, co-chairs of the U.S. Congressional Georgia Caucus Adam Kinzinger and Gerald E. Connolly said in a letter sent to Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
In the letter the U.S. Congressmen expressed their “growing concern” about Georgian government’s recent decision to backtrack on its key promise of proportional polls from 2020, as well as the reports of violence against peaceful protestors.
“Mr. Prime Minister, as co-chairs of the Georgia Friendship Group in Congress, we are concerned about your decision to reject the promised political reform, as well as our concern about the use of force against peaceful protesters”, - reads the letter.
