The US Senate on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution recognising the early 20th century killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks as "genocide".
Turkey condemned the measure, saying it will not help improve relations with the US. The two NATO allies are already at loggerheads over several issues, including Ankara"s purchase of Russian missile defense systems and policy over Syria.
As for Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, he wrote on Twitter: “US Senate Resolution 150 is a victory of justice and truth. On behalf of the Armenian people worldwide, I express our profound appreciation to the Senate for this landmark legislation”.
