Introduction of new mini-buses will not cause the current fare increase – Kakha Kaladze

Tbilisi Mayor has stated that an agreement has been reached with Tbilisi Minibus Company through which the outdated fleet will be replaced starting next year without an increase in fare.

“We have reached an agreement with the company to introduce new minibuses so that fare will not increase. The negotiation process [with the company] was not easy. I would like to thank Irakli Khmaladze and those who participated in the negotiations”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

Deputy Mayor Irakli Khmaladze for his part said that current mini-buses are polluting the environment and are not comfortable for passengers. The replacement of the current fleet of mini-buses in Tbilisi is kicking off.

“The company really has a very difficult situation and no resources to replace the minibuses. Accordingly, from the company’s point of view, the demand for tariff increases is completely legitimate. All this is confirmed by the audit report. We and the company have reached an agreement. Today we will sign a memorandum with the company. The City Hall and the company are jointly starting to replace the minibuses|, - said Irakli Khmaladze.
