The time of radicalism in the country has passed - Kaladze

Every member of the radical opposition, who had sent a letter to the European Union foreign ministers, demanding that the October 26 parliamentary elections be recognized as “illegitimate”, is a traitor. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“These are people who were running around Brussels when Georgia was signing the Association Agreement [with the EU]. They tried to stop this process. They also ran around the offices [in Brussels] to stop the visa liberalisation. We also remember the statements made regarding the EU membership candidate status. They are traitors, their actions are packed with hatred, anti-state actions.

I will repeat it once again. It is no secret what kind of opposition forces we are dealing with. Betraying the country and their own people is their declared policy. This is their everyday reality. Of course, just as we have done until now, we will not allow the implementation of their plans in the future. Today, the Government, which enjoys the full support of the vast majority of the population, is strong and capable of protecting the country from chaos. It has the power to maintain peace in the country despite the attacks and threats, to protect Georgia’s national interests, its independence, sovereignty, and to strengthen, rebuild, and advance the country economically.

As for the rallies, in their current shape, they are radical actions from the radicals. They were defeated in the elections, and the majority of the public assigned them their rightful position, casting them into political obscurity. The rally on Chavchavadze Avenue is part of radicalism, but the time of radicalism in the country has passed.

The country will achieve peace and economic progress. In a few days, Parliament will meet, and the Prime Minister and Cabinet of Ministers will be confirmed. Of course, we will keep our commitments”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
