The Mayor of Tbilisi expressed scepticism over a planned protests of the opposition against the results of the October 26 parliamentary elections, calling them “destroyed”.

“Look at them - they are in disarray. What kind of protest should [opposition leader [Nika] Gvaramia or [Mamuka] Khazaradze create? The opposition’s strategy is nonsensical. Their attempts to rally voters are misguided, they are relying on unfounded narratives rather than addressing the electorate’s concerns”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

In contrast, he highlighted the Georgian Dream’s support, saying “1,200,000 supported a decent future of the country, peace, and its European future” in the elections, while urging the opposition to “take responsibility for their election loss instead of blaming others”.

Kakha Kaladze also responded to accusations from Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the For Georgia party and underlined that the parliamentary elections were conducted in a peaceful environment, supported by relevant conclusions.

“This is a typical campaign of lies aimed at harming the country. In reality, the elections were held peacefully and freely. The OSCE/ODIHR issued statements, published interim conclusions, and provided a final assessment. Such baseless claims cannot jeopardize the elections. The Georgian Dream won because the majority of the population desires peace and economic development”, - he added.
