Prime Minister of Georgia together with Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, visited the base of the Main Special Operations Authority of the Interior Ministry’s Special Tasks Department.
The Head of Government familiarized himself with the existing infrastructure and the technical capabilities of the Special Tasks Department.
Irakli Kobakhidze underlined the importance of the work of the Interior Ministry and the Special Tasks Department, and thanked the department’s leadership.
“The base boasts very important infrastructure, streamlined in every way, which will assist the Special Tasks Department in carrying out its work. We also familiarized ourselves with the equipment now available at the Special Tasks Department. The work of the Interior Ministry in its entirety is extremely important in protecting our country"s national interests. In this regard, special significance is attached to the work of the Special Tasks Department. I want to thank the department for its service to the country. Special thanks are due to its leadership: Zviad Kharazishvili, Mileri Lagazauri, and other officials. I am grateful to each employee of this service. Protecting our national interests largely depends on them, and I want to congratulate everyone on the opening of this base”, - said the Prime Minister.
The new base of the Special Tasks Department stretches 20,000 m2. The base’s territory includes three-story barracks for 150 employees, with working and rest sections featuring modern equipment. On-duty sentry and armory areas, a cafeteria, and a gym were also put in place in the bases territory.
