Anaklia Port will welcome first ship in 2029 – Prime Minister

The Anaklia deep sea port would receive the first ship in 2029 at the latest, or even earlier, noting that the construction work was proceeding “intensively”. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“The construction of the Anaklia port has already started, and we had the opportunity to inspect the [construction] site. Of course, the work is progressing very intensively, and in 2029 at the latest, though we hope even earlier, we will receive the first ship in the Anaklia deep sea port. The railway modernisation project will also be completed very soon.

We also have ambitious plans for Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports. As for the Kutaisi International Airport, the expansion will increase its capacity to 5 million passengers, up from the current 1.7 million. As for Tbilisi, we are discussing the construction of a new international airport, which will be completed within a few years and will allow Tbilisi Airport to handle up to 18 million passengers. Naturally, this will contribute to economic and tourism growth in our country. These are crucial projects that will undoubtedly be carried out successfully”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
