The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted the Anaklia deep sea port as a “strategic project” for the country and its important role in infrastructural improvement and competitiveness growth of the Middle Corridor, connecting the transport systems of Europe and Asia.
“Several days ago, when presenting the Government program, we named 2029 as the date of receiving the first ship in the Anaklia Port.
However, I think that the construction work will proceed at a higher pace. We already have a professional contractor company.
The work is going on intensively, continuously. We hope that we will be able to launch the new infrastructure and start operating the port even faster than planned.
The Anaklia Port is a strategic project for Georgia, which will play an important role in the development of the country’s port infrastructure, as well as in infrastructural improvement and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor, connecting the transport systems of Europe and Asia.
The Anaklia Port will contribute to the economic development of the country, increase the regional and international importance of Georgia, and strengthen our security.
The implementation of this project is very important from all points of view both economically and politically”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze in his address at the Anaklia Port construction launch event.
