A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) and the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA). The agreement was formalized by Davit Narmania, Chairman of GNERC and Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the GCCA.
The purpose of this memorandum is to strengthen the enforcement of competition laws in the energy sector, support the development of competition policies, and promote a healthy competitive environment. Additionally, it aims to ensure effective protection of consumer rights and increase public awareness regarding both competition and consumer protection issues.
Both parties expressed their commitment to working together to improve competition in the energy sector, protect consumer rights, and propose improvements to relevant legislation. They also agreed to develop new strategies, share precedent-setting decisions, and establish uniform practices for better cooperation in these areas.
