The employees of Marneuli District Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative search measures and investigative actions, arrested three persons on the facts of assisting to extort a large amount of money, as well as damaging other’s property.

The following persons were detained - N.B. (DoB 1990), T.N. (DoB 1993) and R.B. (DoB 1998).

The committed crime envisions up to 7 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the defendants were assisting criminal authorities abroad to extort large sums of money. On their behalf, detainees, at different times, demanded large sums of money from citizens by threatening to kill them and destroy property, and after receiving a refusal, they attempted to intimidate citizens and damaged property.

As a result of the conducted investigative measures, law enforcement officers detained N.B., T.N. and R.B. as an accused persons.

The investigation of the incident is being conducted under Articles 25 - 181 and 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
