In the second quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate in Georgia reached a historical minimum - Vakhtang Tsintsadze

In the second quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate in Georgia reached a historical minimum, said today Vakhtang Tsintsadze, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia.

“The trends of high economic growth continue in the country, with an average economic growth of 9% over the last 6 months. As a result, the number of employed individuals is steadily rising, while the level of unemployment has decreased to a historic minimum of 13.7% in the second quarter.

The unemployment rate dropped by 3.1% in the Q2 year-on-year. The parallel growth of employment with the labour force is an indicator of healthy trends and structural improvement in the labour market.

The dynamic of high economic growth would continue to positively influence the labour market, potentially leading to the creation of new jobs and an increase in population incomes in the coming months and years”, - explained Vakhtang Tsintsadze.

According to the Government report, “the number of employed individuals had increased by 19,100, reaching a total of 935,800, while the number of self-employed individuals had risen by 41,300, totaling 451,500”.
