You can commit treason and if someone decides to investigate treason, it is a Russian matter, whatever they say, the state will investigate this case - Mdinaradze on the August war. Such a statement made today Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority, while talking about the investigation of the August 2008 war.

“The most primitive PR campaign consists in calling everything they don’t like Russian. This investigation is as Russian as the transparency law was. Now about what is Russian and harmful to the country. They removed the article of treason from the law months before they restored the South Ossetian Autonomous District, they established the borders, we also remember the topic of Kodori and Upper Abkhazia. After that, the entire world was shown the footage of the bombing on the August 7 [from here to there]. After that, they signed a resolution accusing the Georgian army of starting the war and bombing Tskhinvali with cluster bombs.

Then they agreed with [Heidi] Tagliavini’s conclusion and today they are talking that something done by someone else is Russian and it turns out that the investigation of all this is Russian.

You can commit treason and if someone decides to investigate treason, it is a Russian matter. But at the same time, there is another factor here - we won both Strasbourg and The Hague. For example, we did not say anything about point 11, where it was written that possible war crimes were committed by the Georgian military. Today, whatever the Russians and the UNM say, both The Hague and Strasbourg have made a decision in favor of Georgia and the Georgian military. Now, whatever they say, the state will investigate this case. This is a key state issue”, - said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
