Belgian company will carry out works directly related to the construction of the harbor - Kobakhidze on Anaklia Port

The Prime Minister of Georgia spoke today about the Anaklia Port Project, thereby noting that the State has won an arbitration dispute over it, which is pivotal for protecting the state interests.

“The state won the arbitration dispute regarding the Anaklia Port Project. It was very important to protect the interests of the state. I would like to thank the Minister of Justice and all the employees of the MOJ who were involved in this case. The state was transparent about the Anaklia Project when the consortium failed to fulfill its obligations.

The Government created all the necessary conditions for the consortium to implement the project, but the consortium failed to meet its commitments. Despite this, they filed an arbitration claim. However, the Ministry of Justice effectively protected the state interests, and ultimately, the truth prevailed in this case. Once again, I would like to thank the Minister of Justice and the Ministry for their efforts.

Work continues to ensure the timely implementation of the Anaklia project. The international tender has already been completed, and a Belgian company, Jan De Nul, has been selected. This company, one of the largest in the field, will carry out works directly related to the construction of the harbor, including the deepening of the aquatoria. They will begin work very soon. The development of the Anaklia project is one of our main priorities. This project is crucial for enhancing our country’s connectivity and emphasizing our role within the Middle Corridor Initiative. We will do everything necessary to ensure the successful implementation of this project”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
