The delegation of the Israeli National Police, led by the Commissioner of the Israeli National Police – Yaakov Shabtai, visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on an official working visit. Within the framework of the visit, the members of the delegation met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia - Vakhtang Gomelauri.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia - Grigol Liluashvili. The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Shalva Bedoidze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and the Deputy Head of the State Security Service of Georgia - Levan Akhobadze also participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the parties talked about the existing cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries and highlighted its importance. Vakhtang Gomelauri emphasized that Israel is a strategic partner of Georgia, therefore it is especially important for Georgia to expand and strengthen cooperation with Israel in the field of law enforcement. Vakhtang Gomelauri also noted that the Georgian police attaché will be deployed to Israel in the nearest future and expressed his gratitude to the Israeli side for their willingness to receive the Georgian police attaché.
Within the framework of the meeting, Yaakov Shabtai noted that the Israeli side is ready to continue intensive cooperation with Georgia in various directions and expressed hope that cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries will become even more fruitful with joint efforts. As part of the visit to Georgia, the Israeli National Police delegation will visit the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and get acquainted with the specifics of their work on the spot.
