Georgian Defense Minister hosted EU Ambassador to Georgia

Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze hosted EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski. The parties discussed the European Council-allocated EUR 30 million for Georgian defense under the European Peace Facility (EPF) package.

“The EUR 30 million support adopted for Georgia is aimed to strengthen the country’s defense potential and develop capabilities that will contribute to its active cooperation with the EU within the framework of the Common Defence and Security Policy. Approved under the European Peace Facility, it includes provision of engineering, command and control, medical, logistics and cyber defense equipment to the GDF”, - reads the statement of the Ministry.

Burchuladze thanked Herczynski for his support to Georgia, stressed the cooperation between the sides was dynamic, and the security dimension one of its “critical areas”.

The meeting also noted Georgia was the “most important and reliable partner” for the EU in the region, and that both sides had a strong interest in deepening cooperation in defense and security, including for increasing resilience to hybrid threats.
