The law on renaming the name of “Moldovan language” to “Romanian language” entered into force in Moldova.
The Moldovan parliament approved the final reading of a draft law renaming the state language from Moldovan to Romanian on March 17.
Romanian will replace Moldovan as the country’s language in all legislation published by the country, while the terms “official”, “state” and “native” will also be replaced.
The bill was proposed by the ruling Action and Solidarity Party.
“Within 30 days from the entry into force of the law, the public authorities with the competence to adopt, approve or issue normative acts inferior to the law will make the necessary changes”, - the statement noted.
