We thank the European Commission [EC] for the very positive assessment of our country, Georgia is 12 points ahead of Moldova and almost all key parameters ahead of Ukraine. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, while commenting a new report of the European Commission.

“The evaluation document of the EC was published today, which is based on the questionnaires filled out by Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova last year. First of all, we would like to thank the EC for the very positive assessment of our country.

With the evaluation document, the EC itself confirmed what we have been asserting since June of 2022: it is clear from the report that Georgia deserved the candidate status by all parameters.

Georgia is significantly ahead of Moldova by 12 points and ahead of Ukraine in almost all key parameters. Considering all this, how fair was the political decision made by the EU structures last year, it is for the public to judge.

We want to remind you that last year the radical opposition, related NGOs and media outlets used the decision of the European structures to try to stir up the situation and deepen polarization in the country. Based on this decision, the richest NGOs even demanded the resignation of the Government.

Once again, we thank the Georgian society, which evaluated everything correctly and did not give the forces acting with anti-state goals the opportunity to disturb the situation and disturb the peace in the country.

The evaluation document of the EC makes it clear that under the conditions of decision-making based on objective criteria, Georgia should definitely receive the status of a candidate for EU membership this year”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
