As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia together with the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, one person was detained on the fact of storage and transportation of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks, in particularly large quantities.

Investigation determined, that the accused person, in order to obtain illegal material benefits and for further realization, kept large amount of non-excised tobacco in truck in Tbilisi.

As a result of investigative activities, total number of 54 918 boxes of different brands of non-excised tobacco were seized, with the total market value of GEL 241 639.

Investigation is underway under the 3rd part of the Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.

The accused person is in custody, appropriate activities are being conducted in order to identify and expose other persons involved in the above-mentioned crime.
