Givi Mikanadze, an MP of the Georgian Dream, raised concerns about the impartiality of dozens of domestic monitoring organisations registered with the Central Election Commission for October 26 elections.
“More than half of the mentioned organisations are engaged in activities opposing the ruling party.
In particular, our research has revealed 53 out of 102 local monitoring organisations, or 52%, are involved in activities against the Georgian Dream. Critical Citizen, Youth Initiative for Future Georgia, Alternative NGO and the Public Opinion Research Centre are being closely linked to opposition parties”, - said Givi Mikanadze.
He urged international observers to include the party findings in their reports, stressing the research had exposed 37 organisations directly linked to 12 opposition parties.
“It is also important to note that between 2015 and 2024, 27 representatives of NGOs donated a total of GEL 800,000 to opposition political parties. It raises an interesting question - will the donors who finance these organisations inquire about how much of the funds they have transferred derive from the grants they had provided?
It is obvious the monitoring of the elections by the organisations identified as a result of the research will be biassed and will have nothing to do with objectivity”, - said the MP.
