“Sustainable forest management in Adigeni Municipality - Phase II” project has been completed

Adigeni Municipality project – “Sustainable forest management in Adigeni Municipality - Phase II” was summarized. The project was implemented with the financial support of the Slovenian government, ნ total of 563,540 euros were spent in 2023-2024.

The project was implemented together with the National Forestry Agency, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and a consortium of Slovenian companies. It should be noted that the parties will continue to work on the design application of the third phase of the project, which will be implemented in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region from 2025.

The representatives of the Slovenian delegation got acquainted with the works carried out within the framework of the first and second phase of the project. Within the framework of the project, eco-tourism infrastructure was built in the village of Mokhi, and a forestry-agricultural road was organized in a section of up to 5 kilometers in the village of Kekhovani; With the participation of the local population, Slovenian volunteers and employees of the National Forestry Agency, hiking trails, picnic and camping sites were organized in the village of Nakurdevi within the framework of summer camps.

In addition to the above, a number of activities were carried out within the framework of the project in the direction of capacity building: employees of the National Forestry Agency, local residents and representatives of the professional college attended training courses on various topics; A demonstration of safe work in the forest, use of modern techniques and equipment was held in the business yard of Chorchana village.
