The arrival of Ioane-Zosime’s unique manuscript to Georgia is sheer joy - in essence, the philanthropy of Bidzina Ivanishvili has been directed toward preserving country’s national identity, Prime Minister said at the Patriarchate where Patriarchal Locum Tenens/Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, accompanied by other hierarchs, presided over a service of supplication marking the arrival of Ioane-Zosime’s manuscript in Georgia.
The Head of Government attended the service of supplication in the company of the Members of the Cabinet of Ministers. He underscored the importance of the arrival of the unique manuscript in Georgia, and thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“The philanthropy of Bidzina Ivanishvili has been directed toward protecting and preserving national identity, and this particular act of charity is yet another demonstration of this. And I thank him for it. We are very excited because this treasure will find abode in its rightful place in our country, and I join our country’s population and all of Georgia in celebrating this”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
“As we are celebrating an extraordinary event, the delivery of this glorious manuscript, palimpsest to Georgia today, we are pondering our cultural heritage, historical antiquities, and their importance. The protection and preservation of our historical holy relics is of major importance. I would like to express particular gratitude to Bidzina Ivanishvili who, with this acquisition, has enriched our cultural heritage”, - added His Eminence Metropolitan Shio.
The manuscript-created and bound by Georgian ecclesiastical figure Ioane-Zosime, and acquired on the initiative, and through the efforts, of Bidzina Ivanishvili-arrived in Georgia today. The sacred manuscript will be again on Bidzina Ivanishvili’s initiative-handed over to the Georgian National Museum, to be preserved in its Golden Fund.
