The Chair of the Sports Committee, Irakli Medzmariashvili, and the First Deputy Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee, Giorgi Chakvetadze, attended the presentation of the strategic development plan for the sports program “School League” and the awards ceremony for the 2023-2024 winners of the “Tbilisi School League” at the Tbilisi City Council.
During the event, it was noted that the strategic development plan for the School League was created in 2023. The strategy outlines a five-year action plan to implement activities that will engage 100,000 students annually in school tournaments across more than 20 sports under a single electronic platform.
Young athletes who won in various categories were awarded diplomas and certificates of appreciation for their active participation in the “School League”.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the School League featured competitions in 15 sports across Tbilisi and the regions, involving about 12,000 students from nearly 500 public and private schools. The project is implemented under the aegis of the National Federation for Children’s and School Sports of Georgia.
