The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia - Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the Federal Minister of the Interior and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany - Nancy Faeser, within the framework of his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of law enforcement and reviewed the prospects of future relations. Vakhtang Gomelauri highlighted the importance of fruitful cooperation with German law enforcement agencies and expressed his gratitude for the continuous support German side is providing in the area of developing the capacities of the MIA of Georgia. The parties emphasized the measures implemented in the direction of the fight against illegal migration and organized crime, as well as the role of Police Attaches in this field. Gomelauri expressed readiness of the Georgian side to send Georgian police officers to the relevant units of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community of Germany and explained that this will not only contribute to the fight against organized crime, but also support the measures of controlling the illegal migration.

The German side noted that implementation of the readmission agreement with the EU by Georgia is successful. It was also stated that the cooperation between Germany and Georgia is effectively implemented in this area. The measures taken by Georgia and the current reforms, which were implemented in response to the challenges of visa-free regime with the EU, were also positively evaluated. The German side expressed its will to create bilateral working groups aimed at creating additional opportunities for Georgian citizens with various qualifications to legally work in Germany.

At the end of the meeting, Vakhtang Gomelauri expressed his gratitude towards the Federal Minister of Interior for her hospitality and invited her in Georgia.
