Nikoloz Samkharadze, Eliso Bolkvadze met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Denmark

The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze and the Chair of the Culture Committee, Eliso Bolkvadze held a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Denmark (Folketing), Søren Gade, where the bilateral relations and cooperation aspects were discussed.

The parties highlighted the active dynamics of the parliamentary links and expressed their commitment to further intensifying the relations. Georgian MPs accentuated the unwavering will of Georgia to become an EU member state and informed the Speaker of the Folketing about the respective reforms and progress achieved.

The conversation touched upon the Russian aggression in Ukraine and its consequences on Georgia and the global security milieu; the parties, in this context, dwelt on the grave humanitarian situation in the occupied regions and the threats deriving from Russia.

“It was a very positive meeting. We deliberated on parliamentary relations, as well as various aspects of cooperation, including in the spheres of economy, culture, education and tourism. The Speaker of the Danish Parliament expressed his support to the EU integration of Georgia and underlined the paramount value of granting the EU candidate status to Georgia at the end of 2023 to trigger the country to get prepared for the EU membership”, - said Samkharadze.
