Radical opposition wants to judge the court, in any self-respecting state, it would be unacceptable - Archil Talakvadze

The radical opposition wants to judge the court, in any self-respecting state, in any European state, it would be unacceptable for any political party to judge a court. Such a statement made the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze.

“Certainly, the radical opposition wants the creation of a temporary investigation commission for several purposes - to prevent the implementation of European recommendations and the granting of candidate status to Georgia, to take revenge on the court and judges who judges their political leaders, and it was completely fair, as the Strasbourg court later confirmed.

They also want to gain some influence over the judiciary and interfere with the independence of the judiciary. This explains the anomaly, which contradicts both the Constitution of Georgia and the principles of justice and rule of law in Europe.

In particular, the radical opposition wants to judge the court. In any self-respecting state, in any European state, it would be unacceptable for any political party to judge a court. The judiciary is part of the state system of Georgia, which serves the public interests of the citizens of our country.

We are the Government and naturally, we will always protect the interests of our state, including from such interventions as the radical opposition wants in this case.

If we were even a bit sure that they really want to establish the truth and not to discredit the court and harm Georgia ahead of this important decision that Europe has to make, of course, we would follow them in this argument”, - said Archil Talakvadze.
