Four people were detained for purchase, storage and sale of counterfeit currency in large quantities. The relevant statement was released by the State Security Service of Georgia.
The investigation had established the offenders had sold USD 6,100 in counterfeit bills in exchange for USD 3,050.
The counterfeit bills were of high quality, produced by a deep metallographic printing technique in a printing house.
The crime is punishable by seven to 10 years in prison.
