Defense and Security Committee discussing Draft Defense Code in II reading

The Defense and Security Committee initiated the second reading of the Defense Code and its related bills. During the meeting, the Committee discussed 72 articles of the Code, and Deputy Minister of Defense Grigol Giorgadze took into account the remarks of the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, Irakli Beraia. As a result, the relevant articles of the Code will be reformulated in a new edition.

One of the proposed changes includes an increase in the powers of the military police, giving them the authority to search for individuals who avoid being conscripted into the national military service or reporting/passing through the mobilization reserve, and ensuring their submission to the relevant service if necessary.

Another proposed change concerns the approval of conceptual and organizational documents at the departmental level of state defense planning. Under the new amendment, the head of the relevant agency will approve conceptual documents with an individual administrative-legal act, while the organizational documents will be approved by the head of the relevant department or a person authorized by them, also with an individual administrative-legal act.
