“Collective West” calls on Tbilisi to open a second front against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia - MFA of Russia

At the 57th round of Geneva International Discussions the Russian side stated that it is important to avoid the politicization of Geneva discussions, reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

“Emphasis was placed on continuous efforts of the “collective West” to shift the logic of confrontation from Ukraine to the South Caucasus, which is manifested in provocative calls to Tbilisi, to open a “second front” against Russia in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Such dangerous statements require an immediate response from the Geneva international discussions and the organizations represented there.

In the estimation of Russia and its Abkhazian and South Ossetian allies, the real contribution to achieving stability and security in the South Caucasus could be the signing of a legally binding agreement by Georgia on the non-use of force against Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Also, the so-called delimitation and demarcation of “Georgian-Abkhazian and Georgian-South Ossetian borders”.

The practical implementation of these tasks at the Geneva negotiations remains the main priority of Moscow, Sokhumi and Tskhinvali”, - reads the statement.
