The accusations against former US leader Donald Trump bring to mind an alleged conversation between Soviet figures Joseph Stalin and Lavrenty Beria, former US national security adviser John Bolton told CNN.
“First I remembered Lavrenty Beria, who was the head of the NKVD [People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR]. He once said to Stalin: “If there was a man, there would be an article”, - Bolton says.
At the same time, whether Beria said exactly that was not officially confirmed. The former adviser also suggested that the lawsuit against Trump would fail. Bolton explained that the charges against the politician are very weak, and therefore they will be quickly removed.
The former adviser believes that Trump can only be held accountable by proving that he tried to cover up violations during the 2016 election campaign. According to Bolton, it is almost impossible to confirm this.
