Justice Ministry and Penitentiary Service will not be against, if Saakashvili or his family submits a list of foreign doctors to be involved in his treatment - Rati Bregadze

The Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Service will not be against, if Mikheil Saakashvili or his family submits a list of foreign doctors to be involved in his treatment. Such a statement made today the Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze.

“I want like to make a statement regarding the disinformation, namely, that the state does not allow Polish doctors to visit Mikheil Saakashvili.

On November 29, 2022, we offered Saakashvili to bring foreign doctors from any foreign clinic to be involved in his treatment. 3 days ago, we further clarified that our offer was valid and the Ministry and the Special Penitentiary Service would not oppose the involvement of any foreign doctor from any foreign clinic in the treatment of Saakashvili.

I checked once again and I want to boldly tell you that as of 13:00, there was no statement from Saakashvili or his family, according to which they asked us to involve foreign doctors in the treatment.

Justice Ministry and the Special Penitentiary Service will not be against, if the convicted person, Saakashvili, or his family submits a list of desired foreign doctors to be included in his treatment at the VivaMedi clinic.

I have said many times that Saakashvili’s rights as a prisoner have not been violated. His defenders appealed to the Strasbourg court and we saw the result. It is up to them whether they will go to court again this year or not.

Saakashvili has already had about 2,000 visitors. He is being treated in the appropriate clinic and it is difficult to imagine that his rights were violated”, - said Rati Bregadze.
